I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With you

Lyrics |
Today I passed you on the street
And my heart fell at your feet
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.
Somebody else stood by your side
And she looked so satisfied
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.
A picture from the past came slowly stealing
As I brushed your arm and passed so close to you
Then suddenly I got that old time feeling
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.
It's hard to know another's lips havel kissed you
And she's held you just the way I used to do
Oh, heaven only knows how much I miss you
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you. |

Description |
Story Behind the Song: I have always loved this song and held it as one of the pinnacles of heartbreak songs. Many people have covered it, but I was inspired by Cassandra Wilson's covers of things not usually done in her genre. My bass player friend, Mark Harris and I recorded this on a dreary cold day in Buffalo, NY. |
